Enjoyed unparalleled experiences with Scenic Eclipse II at the Horizontal Falls
For an extraordinary voyage through the Kimberley region, join Scenic Eclipse II where the Discovery Team will take guests to see one of the world’s most remarkable natural phenomena, known as the Horizontal Falls.
Discover the Wonders of Western Australia's Horizontal Falls on Scenic Eclipse II

The Horizontal Falls is a famous natural attraction in the Kimberley, a remote and remarkable region in the northwest corner of Australia. As one of the world’s most sensational tidal events, this unique phenomenon is truly spectacular to witness.
Despite its name, Horizontal Falls is not a waterfall. It is an incredibly fast-moving tidal current in Talbot Bay, in the Buccaneer Archipelago off the Kimberley coast, approximately 160 miles northeast of Broome, Australia.
A magnificent spectacle to view, water builds up in front of two narrow gaps in the sandstone ridges of the McLarty Range. As the water floods through the gaps, the gushing, rushing, foaming effect looks like a waterfall turned on its side.
The ‘waterfall’ is also reversible when the incoming and outgoing tides change the direction of the flow in this breathtakingly beautiful bay. With up to 6 miles difference between low and high tides, it creates a dramatic sight that was once described by naturalist David Attenborough as Australia’s “most unusual natural wonder”.
To reach this isolated location, it is not possible to drive or walk as the surrounding area has no roads or hiking trails. Instead, Scenic Eclipse II will take guests on an exceptional cruise through the Kimberley region, with the Horizontal Falls being one of an abundance of spectacular experiences that will enrich and excite.
